Green Marine recognizes Mystic Ocean for its environmental commitment
On September 24th in Brussels, Mystic Ocean was officially certified by the Green Marine Europe program, at the same event where its sister company Mystic Cruises received the same recognition. Both belong to the MysticInvest Holding group, reinforcing the group’s international position in the sustainable maritime sector.
The Vasco da Gama, Mystic Ocean’s ship, is preparing for its third world voyage, combining innovation, excellent service, and environmentally responsible operational practices. By joining Green Marine Europe, Mystic Ocean commits to continuing to reduce its environmental footprint and to implementing advanced environmental management practices, including reducing air emissions, protecting marine life, and managing waste.
Green Marine Europe highlights the positive impact of certified companies: 64% have achieved high levels in SOx and particulate reduction, and 79% have reached advanced standards for NOx. These results underscore Mystic Ocean’s role in building a more sustainable cruise industry.
According to Marisa Costa, Head of Sustainability at MysticInvest Holding, this certification “is an important milestone in the group’s journey, with our two companies certified side by side. This international recognition demonstrates that we are serious about putting sustainability at the heart of our ESG strategy, turning ambition into action and commitments into tangible results.”
More than just transporting passengers, Mystic Ocean positions itself as a company that actively contributes to the transition toward a more responsible cruise sector, where each voyage of the Vasco da Gama strengthens the commitment to the oceans and to environmental innovation.
